Parks Associates: Fox-Roku Deal Shows the TV OS Is Now the Industry's Control Point
Parks Associates research pegs Roku as the most-used streaming player in 43% of US internet households, with 17% of smart TV owners running Roku OS on their primary set — reach the firm says explains Fox's $22 billion acquisition, which puts Tubi and The Roku Channel, two of the top US FAST services, under one owner. Competition in video is now about who owns the relationship with the viewer, said research director Michael Goodman, arguing the platform determines discovery, data and monetisation more than any single content brand.
