Judge Rules Nexstar Violated Tegna Merger Injunction Over Board Appointments
US District Judge Troy Nunley ruled on August 6 that Nexstar violated its preliminary injunction in the $6.2 billion Tegna merger by installing CEO Perry Sook and four other Nexstar executives on Tegna's board, ordering monthly compliance reports and a proposed special master to monitor the companies. The ruling extends the legal freeze on one of the largest pending US broadcast mergers, which has been blocked from integration since April amid an antitrust challenge from eight state attorneys general and DirecTV.
