German Voice Actors File Antitrust Complaint Against Netflix Over AI Clauses

The Verband Deutscher Sprecher:innen asked the Bundeskartellamt to examine whether Netflix abuses market power by requiring dubbing actors to sign agreements consenting to unpaid AI training on their recordings, alongside a parallel data-protection complaint filed with Berlin’s DPA. Netflix has recast the voices of non-signers and previously threatened subtitles-only releases in Germany.
