France and South Korea Pledge €1 Billion as Macron’s Lumière Summit Presses Big Tech

At the first Lumière Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France and South Korea each committed €500 million to fund screen industries from 2027 to 2031, while 120 states, studios and media groups signed a Lumière Declaration covering investment in human creativity, anti-piracy measures and copyright-protective AI. Macron separately called on YouTube to contribute to content financing, and RTL Group joined Netflix and Mediawan in an 18-month CNC-led mentoring programme starting January 2027.
